Chemistry - Metals

All the metals elements share certain properties:

  • They are shiny
  • They conduct electricity
  • They are classified according to the way they behave

Some metal elements such as potassium and sodium, are very reactive and react violently with water and air, while others such as gold do not react at all.

Metals are sometimes described as a lattice of positive ions surrounded by a cloud of delocalized electrons.

Metals are one of the three groups of elements as distinguished by their ionization and bonding properties, along with the metalloids and non-metals.
